The orange crust gives you the first clue as to how delicious this bread is. Tucked inside this almond-flour based loaf is plenty of crispy bacon and cheddar cheese. This keto bread makes the perfect side for our Mississippi Pot Roast recipe or a simple breakfast with a healthy smear of softened butter.
Make sure you heed the warning about slicing the bread while it’s hot. Like many keto goods, this one’s fragile until completely cooled. If you try to slice it early, then you may end up with a mess on your hands.
Yields 10 servings of Keto Cheesy Bacon Bread
The Preparation
- 6 ounces cooked bacon
- 1 1/2 cups almond flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 2 large egg
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
The Execution
1. Preheat your oven to 300F. Grease the inside of a bread loaf pan. Then dice up the bacon and fry until crispy.
2. Whisk the almond flour and baking powder together.
3. In a smaller bowl, whisk the sour cream and eggs together.
4. Mix the wet and dry ingredients.
5. Mix in the butter, then fold in the bacon and cheddar cheese.
6. Add the batter to the bread tin. Garnish the top with a bit of extra cheese
6. Bake for 45 minutes, then stick a wooden toothpick into the center. The bread is done when the toothpick comes out clean.
7. Let the bread completely cool before slicing. I’m serious! If it’s hot when you slice it, then it may fall apart. It’s even better if you let it chill in the fridge before serving.

I saw the recommendation to eat this cold or it would fall apart. I added 1 scoop of whey protein powder and 1/2 teaspoon of xanthum gum. Sliced a piece off hot out of the oven and it held together perfectly!!! LOVE this bread!!
Thanks for the feedback, Vicky! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
OMG, that bread looks amazing, I will make a loaf, Thank you.
Enjoy! Let us know how you like it 🙂
This bread is delicious. I get 12 slices from it. I slather each slice with butter and eat with home made soup. Fantastic. I’ve made this loads of times now and passed the recipe on to other family members that have eaten it for lunch with me. I use smoked bacon and sometimes very mature cheddar. Thank you for the recipe.
Glad you enjoyed it, Grey. Thanks for the feedback!
This bread did not bake at 300 degrees. I could not understand how it would but followed the recipe and there it was still raw after 45 minutes. I raised the temp to 350 for about 10 more minutes and it was fine.
It came out flat.
Just made this last night and it is delicious! I did have to bake it for about 20 minutes longer and at 25 degrees higher than the recipe states, which was surprising because I was using a convection oven and usually those cook much faster.
I’m really happy you enjoyed the recipe! I definitely agree that it’s a bit strange to have to cook it for so much longer and at a higher temp (especially on convection setting).
Does anyone know a good sub for the sour cream? My gut does NOT like that!!!!
You could do a mix of cream cheese and heavy cream – it would give a similar texture to sour cream, though I’m not sure if your gut would agree with that?
I made this bread. O M G!!! It was delicious. It is a very dense cake because of it being Keto friendly. Of course I try to listen to the instructions, B U T, I just had to cut it shortly after I got it out of the pan. I guess I was lucky OR it was because I used a serrated plastic knife for breads and cakes. The bread did not break apart. I put a generous helping of cheese on top! So if you are wondering if it is worth making it, yes indeed. Oh, 1 more thing, i was going to spread some butter on it. That is when it fell apart.
Really happy to hear you enjoyed it!
