Up your fat intake with these delicious burger bombs. Cheese stuffed inside sausage and wrapped in bacon! Dip them in your favorite sugar-free condiments and it tastes like it’s straight out of a take out window.
The best thing about these burger bombs are that they only require 3 main ingredients. I used raw sausage rounds for this recipe, but if you can’t find them, you can always take the skin off breakfast sausages and use the raw meat, after flattening them into small circles. While these are super simple, it does take about an hour in the oven for the bacon to become crispy – so plan ahead!

I made these, with a couple of changes – I precooked bacon for 25 min. in a 375 degree oven before wrapping the sausage/cheese balls, then baked the balls at 400 degrees for 30 minutes, turning them once, and broiled for 3-4 minutes to finish crisping the bacon. They were so good my husband ate most of them for his supper! Thanks so much for the recipe.
Hahah! I’m glad you liked them Becky. My husband would do the same, I hope you get some more of the batch next time. 🙂
These are amazing! Made the recipe exactly as is. So good! Everyone in my household including my pickiest eater loved them!!!!!!
If I was to make these to take work for lunch, what is the recommended quantity to eat for a meal? Just getting started in the Keto lifestyle, so Im trying to figure how how to plan lunches at work. Thanks for any advice .
Hey Wayne,
In general, I’d say 2 bacon burger bombs with some low carb leafy greens would be a good lunch for most people.
However, everyone has slightly different calorie, fat, and protein requirements based on many different factors so it is best to eat these (and every other keto meal) in the context of your specific macronutrient needs.
You can find out what these are by using our keto calculator:

sadly, I tried the precooking the bacon method and ended up with very well done bacon… I guess crumbled bacon isn’t a bad thing thing for later. Luckily I bought an extra. 2nd attempt not much better as the cheese has leaked out all over the baking pan and I’m only half way through the cooking time. I’m sure they will TASTE great but sure not pretty.
I’m sorry to hear the precooked method didn’t work for you as it did for the other person in the comments. For the second attempt you made, making sure the meat is securely around the cheese should help with the spillage. I hope you were still able to enjoy them by their taste!
No doubt – they still tasted GREAT! (Bonus… I just ate the crispy cheese that spilled out and called it a WIN/WIN.
I believe my 1 oz. cheese cube was HUGE, thus creating the thin meat problem… Notes for next time!!
Could you use ground beef instead of sausage? If so how would the calories be changed?
I think ground beef would work, though it doesn’t hold together as well as sausage does in my experience. For the calories, we include the full nutritional breakdown – just use that and replace the sausage with ground beef.
Do you think these could be deep fried? I’ve recently acquired a deep fryer and I like to use it as much as possible now 😛 Any guess as to what the cooking time might be? Deep frying generally takes less time than the oven as you know.
I think they could probably be deep fried. Let me know how it goes if you try it out. I’d probably think around 7-9 minutes, but I haven’t tried it myself. I’d recommend cutting it open before eating to check the doneness inside.
Thanks for the recipe! I made them yester and they were yummo! I sliced each bacon slice crosswise then lengthwise so I had smaller strips to wrap around the ball.
Great idea, Betty! I’ll have to try it out myself. Glad you liked these burger bombs!
