One of the best things to do on a frosty day is sit back and enjoy a nice cup of tomato soup, but with all the sugar added in store bought cans, it’s hard to find one to eat while keto. So I knew I had to attempt a low-carb version.
To make it easy, I made this soup with tomato paste, specifically choosing the one with the least carbs. However, you could also make it with canned halved tomatoes, but you’d need to run the soup through a blender to make it nice and smooth.
This soup is great to make, especially if you want to make more.. You can just double the tomato paste and cream. This tomato soup takes roughly 20 minutes to make, start to finish. The best part is that it is so filling, you don’t need a lot to fill you up!

What size can of tomato paste? 16 oz?
It was a 6 oz can – sorry about that. I went ahead and updated the ingredients of the recipe.
This soup was delicious but 1/2 cup serving size was about two gulps!
Hey! Love your recipes. I just wanted to point out that in the directions it says to add in minced onion, but there is no mention of how much onion in the ingredients list.
I’ve added this to our to-do list to fix, thank you!
I wish more recipe sites would use volume and not generic “1 can” of this or that. Like, tomato paste comes in different sizes, why not just say how many ounces? I can assume I know how much to use, but I just don’t understand why not use absolute values? Another recipe I saw on here, it said “6-7 chicken breasts”, again, just use volume. Just some general feedback.
Thank you for your feedback. 🙂
Just made this soup, not only is it fast and uses ingredients I have on hand, it’s delicious! I’m just starting going low carb, it’s really great to find recipes for the food I already love, thanks! Oh! I also used about 1/2 oz of grated parmesan as I didn’t have Asiago. Worked great.
I made this today and it was delicious. Since it did not mention minced onion in the ingredients and also did not mention the oregano in the directions, I just added the oregano. This is better than any tomato soup I have eaten out anywhere, and I try it everywhere I go.
I couldnt Pin this recipe. Tried the Pinterest button on the recipe and it didnt work either 🙁
Sorry about that! Pinterest was giving us some issues and it took me a few weeks to figure out what exactly was causing the issue because we hadn’t changed any of the internal code on the website. We were finally able to solve the issue – let me know if it works now!
Minced onion? Hello- the instructions call for minced onion but the ingredient list does not. Please clarify? Thank you!
It was a mistake that was corrected a while ago – there is no minced onion in this recipe, though you can add some if you’d like 🙂
So 4 servings comes out of all that? Is one serving 1 cup of the soup?
This seems a bit high on net carbs. The ingredients list shows carbs for heavy whipping cream?
