Growing up I never really liked eggnog. That slimy, thick consistency was never something that I wanted to like or could bring myself to like.
This keto eggnog recipe, however, will be a hit – it’s thick, creamy, delicious, and will knock your socks off! If you’re new to keto and haven’t had alcohol – be careful as this can make you drunk. I put a lot of alcohol in mine as we have a family that can drink often.
Let me know how you and your family like this one, I’m sure it will be a hit!

Hi, I was wondering when you added the 3 yolks that were whisked in step 5?
Hey Kyla,
You add them in, in between Step 5 and 6. You add them to the coconut milk before you add the egg whites in. I’ve updated the post to include that step – sorry for the confusion!
Yippee—no tempering!!
Why do we add one egg later? I just made this, haven’t tried it yet, followed it step by step, and I’m just curious. Thanks.
Sarah, this is an oldish recipe that I decided needed one more egg after I had finished and tasted it – so I added that step in later (and didn’t have a picture for it for the earlier steps) so I added it in at the end. You could add this in the beginning if you’d like 🙂
Thanks! It was delicious and just what we needed to fill the little space in our hearts missing this first keto holiday season 😉
Glad to hear it! 🙂
what if you didn’t realize and whisked 4 egg whites and yolks? Would that be fine?
Hi! I might change the texture of the drink because you wont be able to whip the whites with the yolks in them. If you can start over again I would suggest it. 🙂
Any idea if this would be tasty without sweetener?
What size were your servings? 500 cal is almost half my calories for the day 🙁
Hi Maria, the size of the servings are going to depend greatly on the volume of rum used. You could reduce the amount of rum added, or even split the recipe up into smaller servings if needed.
I would like it to be thicker. Any suggestions?
Can I not add alcohol to it?
You don’t heat it at all. Isn’t that dangerous?
There is some risk in eating raw eggs. If you think you’ll have an issue with that then you can sometimes find pasteurized eggs.
Okay! Thank you very much for the recipe. Since Keto I’ve been craving that thick silky eggnog :p hopefully it taste similar 🙂
What’s the shelf life?
Because of the raw eggs you can safely keep it for 2 days.
Can you sub unsweetened vanilla almond milk for the coconut milk?
Sure!
If I do not use alcohol, do I need to add more coconut milk, if so, how much?
Thank you for the recipe by the way!
You shouldn’t need to – the alcohol is optional. If you want to thin it out, just add more to taste 🙂
What is the point of adding the last minute egg? Does it make it a little slimy?
It helps give it a bit more creamy of consistency.
This looks great.
HWC macros look a little off, no?
We use the USDA nutritional values of heavy cream – what seems to be wrong about it?
I didn’t realize there were so many grams of protein and carbs.
Guess i learned something new today.
It’s not very much protein or carbs when you think of the amount of volume this is creating. Heavy cream is very rich and calorie-dense, and we’re using 2 cups of it in this recipe. I remember when I made this recipe how rich it was – you wouldn’t be able to have servings upon servings of this. However, you could add more coconut milk to reduce the calorie content (and to “water” it down a little bit).
Coconut milk from can or carton? Thanks, looks lovely!
Canned, full-fat coconut milk is the better option. Enjoy! 🙂
Thanks, I just happen to have that on hand.
I’m unclear on coconut milk quantity it says 2 cups and also 1 cup. Which is it? Thanks!
